Best Picture: Rebecca

The 1940 film directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

First, I did enjoy this film.  The story was interesting, and the house was certainly grand.  I liked how Hitchcock could get the mood of the film to swing so drastically from emotion to emotion in such short periods of time.  I did think that some of the characters were flat, but by the end I understood that was a way of getting the viewer to feel the main character’s isolation for most of the movie.

Fun fact: I didn’t realize until just writing this blog that the main character’s name is never mentioned.
